This wine represents a significant step in my winemaking journey as it is the first wine released under my own name.
Downing Estate straddles the enrichingCambrian Greenstone outcrop in Central Heathcote.
Downing Estate is an iconic vineyard that shares a landscape with Heathcote icons like Jasper Hill and Sanguine Estate.
I’m immensely proud of this wine. It is rich and elegant with milk chocolate and tobacco balanced by black pepper, a touch of smoked bacon rind and blueberries.
This wonderful winemaking site has combined beautifully with a large percentage of whole bunch fermentation and 18 months élevage in second fill large format French oak.
Only 2000 bottles made.
